System Architect & Engineer - Optomechatronic Systems

Main responsibilities 

• You will connect all expertises involved in a project, and in shift between technical discussions and maintaining a helicopter view to make strategic project decisions.
• You will deal with uncertainty sometimes, and need to make decisions using incomplete data. This is why it is important tat you are aware of the underlying technical and physical principles.
• You will mainly contribute to the projects in the conceptual phase for idea generation and design phase for budgeting, technical decisions and team steering.
• You will keep a close collaboration with the customers, subcontractors and partners.
• As a System Engineer, you will stay involved up to delivery to the customer, which requires the capability to manage the team and partners towards the desired performance results within time and budget constraints.
• In addition, together with other colleagues, you will write project proposals for new paid assignments.
• You will define topics for internal fundamental research.
• You will mentor less experienced colleagues.

Requirements

• You have a master’s degree in Electronics, Applied Physics or another relevant specialization.
• You have at least 10 years of relevant experience in the design of optomechatronic systems in a high-tech environment.
• You have an understanding of control engineering and mechatronic system design.
• You have a thorough knowledge of optics and optical systems.
• You have knowledge about sensors and actuators and the physical principles behind it.
• You have experience with motivating, inspiring and convincing colleagues, project teams and customers, being able to steer your team members towards the result you have in mind.
• You have a critical mindset, eager to get to know what the customer demand is and willing to outdo their expectations together with your team.
• You have a pragmatic and creative attitude.
• You have an excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken.
