We are currently looking for a Senior Thermo-Mechanical Analyst to join the team in Delft.

As a Senior Thermal-Mechanical Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the conceptual design of cutting-edge optomechatronic systems within a research group. You will work at the intersection of high-tech domains, collaborating closely with experts in Optics, Space Systems Engineering, and Nano-Instrumentation. Our mission is to strengthen the global leadership of the Dutch mechatronics industry by developing next-generation solutions for Space & Science, Semiconductor Equipment, and the Manufacturing Industry. You will lead mechanical and thermal-mechanical analysis, guiding design decisions and ensuring that complex systems remain stable and high-performing under extreme conditions.

Senior Thermo-Mechanical Analyst

Main responsibilities 

  • Lead Analysis Activities: Take ownership of mechanical and thermal-mechanical analysis to guide critical design decisions.
  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Work alongside mechanical/optical designers, flow modeling specialists, and systems architects to develop and validate prototypes.
  • Strategic Influence: Balance various physics domains to achieve robust, high-performance solutions for our customers' most challenging technical problems. Your expertise will influence strategic design choices.
  • Mentorship: Guide and mentor junior engineers, sharing your expertise in simulation and precision engineering.


Requirements

  • Education: MSc or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field, with a strong focus on Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and computational modeling.
  • Experience: 7–10 years of relevant experience in thermal, mechanical, and vibration analysis within high-tech or precision engineering (e.g., Space, Aerospace, or Semiconductors).
  • Background: You have worked on complex, multidisciplinary projects, successfully applying multi-domain analysis and optimization techniques to achieve robust, high-performance designs.
  • Software Expertise: Expert-level proficiency in ANSYS, COMSOL, or similar high-end simulation platforms.
  • Technical Skills: Strong experience with static, thermal-structural, and vibration simulations applied in complex industrial environments, plus familiarity with system-level modeling tools like Python or Matlab.
  • Domain Knowledge: Solid understanding of industrial norms, such as ECSS standards, and ideally experience with topology optimization or multi-physics modeling.
  • Documentation: Proven ability to produce high-quality technical reports, design documentation and analysis summaries that support decision-making at senior levels.
  • Communication: Excellent command of English (written and verbal) and the ability to explain complex technical insights to various stakeholders.
