We are currently looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the team in Delft.

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer / Senior Constructeur, you play a key role in transforming optical and mechatronic concepts into high-quality mechanical designs. You complement the work of system and optical engineers with deep expertise in precision mechanics, material behaviour, statically determined design, and manufacturability.

You will convert design concepts into detailed 3D-CAD models and complete 2D drawing packages. You also validate your designs through FEM analyses or hand calculations and prepare Bills of Materials. Strong ownership of your planning is essential: you estimate the scope of your work and provide accurate input to project leads.

The work is structured, hands-on, and collaborative, often across multiple projects at the same time. You thrive in technically challenging environments, bring creativity and curiosity to your designs, and enjoy contributing to innovative high-tech systems.

Senior Mechanical Engineer

Main responsibilities 

  • Translate optical and mechatronic concepts into feasible and manufacturable mechanical designs.
  • Create detailed 3D-CAD models and complete 2D drawing sets.
  • Perform design validation through limited FEM simulations or analytical calculations.
  • Generate Bills of Materials and ensure high-quality technical documentation.
  • Estimate work scope, plan your tasks, and provide accurate input to project management.
  • Work autonomously within multidisciplinary teams, often across several projects simultaneously.
  • Ensure designs follow principles of precision engineering, manufacturability, and statically determined structures.
  • Stay informed about new technologies and apply creative solutions to engineering challenges.


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Precision Engineering.
  • At least 8 years of experience in the high-tech industry.
  • Proficiency with 3D-CAD tools; experience with NX and Teamcenter is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of statically determined design and precision mechanical construction.
  • Familiarity with geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T), functional dimensioning, and tolerancing principles.
  • Basic knowledge of control engineering, thermal behaviour, optics, and dynamics is an advantage.
  • Practical, creative, proactive, and collaborative mindset; strong sense of ownership over project outcomes.
  • Excellent communication skills in both Dutch and English.
