For one of our clients within the Defence & Security domain in The Hague area, we are looking for a Project Manager to lead complex technical experiments in a highly specialised research environment.
In this role, you will manage multiple projects focused on ballistic testing, protection systems, and advanced materials, contributing to the development of solutions that enhance the safety of personnel and critical infrastructure.
You will work closely with researchers, engineers, and international partners, ensuring that experiments are delivered on time, within budget, and in line with strict technical and quality standards. Your work will directly contribute to innovative protection solutions used in demanding, real-world environments

Project Manager – Ballistic Research & Testing
Main responsibilities
- Lead and manage multiple technical projects simultaneously (from feasibility studies to prototypes and testing phases)
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget
- Coordinate and guide multidisciplinary teams, including researchers and technical specialists
- Oversee and plan complex experimental activities and test campaigns
- Safeguard the quality, usability, and applicability of results
- Act as the key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders
- Translate experimental outcomes into practical and implementable solutions
- Contribute to the continuous development of technical knowledge and innovation within the team
- Support collaboration with national and international partners

- Experience & expertise
- HBO (Bachelor) level in a technical field (e.g. Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering or similar)
- Minimum 4 years of experience in project management within a technical or operational environment
- Experience working in innovation-driven or engineering environments
- Affinity with Defence, safety systems, or complex technical domains
- Experience with testing environments, prototypes, or engineering projects is a strong plus
- Personal profile
- Structured, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Strong organisational and coordination skills
- Comfortable working in dynamic and high-pressure environments
- Able to communicate effectively with both technical teams and stakeholders
- A true team player with a strong sense of ownership
- Language & location
- Fluent in Dutch and English (both required)
- German is a plus
- Willing to work primarily on-site in The Hague and Delft area
