We are currently looking for an FPGA Engineer to join the team in the Hague Area.

As a Hardware Application Engineer, you will be joining a high-tech team that designs and builds highly specialized miniaturized medical imaging components used in advanced diagnostic procedures. These devices combine precision engineering, sophisticated acoustics, and complex electronics to support exceptionally accurate internal imaging. 

As part of this environment, you’ll contribute to the development and integration of next-generation medical imaging solutions, working with multidisciplinary teams and state-of-the-art technology platforms.

Job details

FPGA Engineer 

Main responsibilities 

  • Develop FPGA architectures and code to prototype, test, and validate digital functions that will be integrated into custom ASICs
  • Maintain and enhance existing FPGA implementations
  • Design and develop advanced, ultra-high-density interconnect (uHDI) PCB layouts
  • Integrate imaging components and electronics into customer systems
  • Implement and optimize signal processing and beamforming algorithms
  • Set up, verify, and validate laboratory test environments for both R&D and production
  • Conduct system-level, software, and hardware testing and validation
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, specifications, and test plans
  • Coordinate with customers on interfacing, integration, and system requirements
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues in R&D, production, and external partners 

Requirements

Knowledge of:

  • FPGA development tools and workflows
  • VHDL, MATLAB, and related programming environments
  • Electronics and PCB design principles
  • Digital system development using FPGAs
  • Medical imaging or ultrasound principles (advantage)
  • Relevant industry standards and compliance guidelines (such as IEC 13485) (advantage)
  • Embedded programming (advantage)
  • Strong proficiency in English

Skills:

  • Designing digital system architectures for FPGA-based development
  • Setting up and executing measurement and test environments
  • Strong analytical thinking and structured problem-solving
  • Hands-on and proactive working attitude
