About this job
We are currently looking for a Data Scientist to join our team in Delft.
You will be working within the Defence & Security business unit, where
we are working on innovative solutions that leverage space technologies.
You will be active in the domain of Intelligence, Surveillance and
Reconnaissance (ISR). In the ISR domain we are developing advanced
satellite data processing solutions, both on-board satellites and on
ground. These solutions include the employment of machine learning
models to obtain insights from a variety of satellite-based sensors, such as
hyperspectral and SAR. Common application areas include Defence, Space
and Critical Infrastructure. This role involves studying and analyzing
different sensor types and their data, designing and applying data pre
processing and filtering techniques and designing and implementing
machine learning models to obtain insights. Additionally, this position
includes evaluation and analysis of results to assess performance of these
models.
This position provides the opportunity to design innovative solutions and

Main responsibilities
- Study, analyze and evaluate different types of satellite data, including but not limited to hyperspectral and SAR.
- Define and implement data pre-processing and filtering techniques to enhance data applicability.
- Implement data pipelines and labeling techniques
- Design and implement efficient machine learning models and other AI techniques to convert data into valuable insights.
- Support and guide colleagues in data science related developments.
- Lead data science tasks in projects.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Astronomy, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Computational Science or a related technical field, or extensive work experience equivalent to these qualifications.
- Solid understanding of satellite data, including but not limited to hyperspectral and SAR.
- Programming experience in Python.
- Experience with machine learning platforms (PyTorch, TensorFlow) and data science tools (scikit-learn, numpy)
- Strong communication skills in English, both verbally and in writing. Dutch is an advantage.
- Affinity with working for Defence. Possibility to obtain security clearances (Dutch, NATO, EU) is a must.
