We are currently looking for a System Engineer to join the team in Heerle.

As a System Engineer, you will be technically responsible for the development of products, ensuring that design, analysis, testing, verification, and qualification meet customer requirements. You will be a key member of the Core Team, working closely with the Program Manager, Product Owner, and Product Assurance Engineer. This team serves as the primary contact with customers, major subcontractors, and production, overseeing all technical aspects.

In the preliminary phases, you will handle technical trade-offs and interpret customer requirements. During the development phase, you will collaborate with the design and factory engineering departments (CAD, Structural, Thermal, Electrical) to ensure accurate execution of designs. This involves analyzing designs through functional and system engineering assessments. During procurement and assembly, you will address potential design changes and non-conformances. In the testing phase, you will create test plans and procedures to verify equipment and meet customer requirements.

System Engineer

Main responsibilities 

  • Review customer documents and make design decisions.
  • Support project schedules and budgets.
  • Conduct functional analysis and system development tasks.
  • Evaluate mechanical, structural, and electronic designs.
  • Create documentation for data packages required for various reviews (EQSR, PDR, CDR, TRR, TRB), such as user manuals, qualification status lists, compliance matrices, verification control documents, functional analyses, assembly and test procedures, and test reports.
  • Provide technical support to the supply chain and production departments.
  • Develop test procedures and coordinate testing with the Test Department.
  • Offer technical assistance during test phases in the project.
  • Manage technical trade-offs and understand customer requirements during preliminary phases.
  • Collaborate with design and factory engineering departments (CAD, Structural, Thermal, Electrical) to ensure proper execution of designs.
  • Support design changes and non-conformance issues during procurement and assembly phases.
  • Write test plans and procedures to support the verification of equipment and customer requirements.


Requirements

  • Experience in a System or Expert Engineering role within a high-technology, multidisciplinary industry or a similar environment.
  • BSc or MSc level education in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Knowledge of space components and systems, mechanical engineering (structural and thermal), and assembly integration and test engineering.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in technical English (C2).

Highly Valued/Desired Skills:

  • Experience in the spaceflight industry, preferably as a satellite equipment supplier.
  • Familiarity with ECSS and Space Design Process Flow (EQSR, PDR, CDR, MRR, TRR, TRB, DRB).
  • Understanding of the current technological state and market for spaceflight components.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Dutch (B1).
  • Possession of a driving license and willingness to travel occasionally.
