We are currently looking for a Researcher Next-Generation Battery Technology  to join the team in Eindhoven.

As a Researcher Next-Generation Battery Technology, you will be part of the Thin-Film Electronics team, focusing on the development and implementation of next-generation battery technologies. Utilizing advanced thin and thick film process technologies, your role will involve leading projects that develop new materials and device concepts for high-performance, sustainable batteries. These projects will span various battery types, including high-voltage lithium (sodium) metal batteries, solid-state batteries, and metal-air batteries.

Researcher Next-Generation Battery Technology 

Main responsibilities  

    • Engaging in R&D to enhance battery safety, stability, energy, and power densities, while reducing production costs
    • Conducting hands-on laboratory work, including the synthesis and production of electrode and electrolyte layers, building coin and pouch cells, and performing various measurements
    • Developing and characterizing new battery concepts based on large-area integrated (thin film) process flows
    • Supporting and managing technical program roadmaps and projects, translating research into experimental plans, and writing and executing funded projects at national and European levels
    • Filing patents based on innovative ideas and results
    • Presenting results at international conferences and to stakeholders
    • Working within a multidisciplinary, multi-company team, supervising, and coaching team members and students


    • PhD in (Electro)chemistry, Batteries, Materials Science, or related fields
    • Several years of R&D experience in battery technology, with expertise in materials synthesis, binder production, electrocatalysts, electrode preparation, thin film technologies, battery assembly, and various characterization methods (XRD, Raman, SEM, impedance, galvanostatic cycling, cyclic voltammetry)
    • Proactive and critical mindset with clear objectives
    • Hands-on approach with a sense of responsibility and organizational skills
    • Excellent communication skills in English
