We are currently looking for a Mechanical Architect to join the team in Delft.


As a Mechanical Architect, you will lead the mechanical design of state-of-the-art satellite communication products. Acting as the bridge (from a mechanical perspective) between customers, suppliers, and the high-tech factory, you will shape innovative yet cost-effective solutions and play a key role in scaling the company’s products for volume manufacturing.

Mechanical Architect

Main responsibilities 


  • Lead the mechanical design of products, balancing technical performance with cost-effective solutions for volume production.

  • Collaborate closely within multidisciplinary (multi-company) teams, including optical, control, systems, electrical, and software engineers.

  • Manage subcontractors and suppliers from a mechanical engineering perspective to ensure high-quality and manufacturable designs.

  • Iterate and transfer mechanical designs to the factory for series production.

  • Contribute both at the conceptual/architectural level and, when needed, perform hands-on CAD work.

  • Provide input on mechanical design aspects for customer proposals, tenders, and subsidy projects.

  • Support the development of CAD and PLM infrastructure and assist in setting up factory and production facilities.

  • Help establish mechanical design standards and ensure their adoption across teams.

  • Contribute to the development of technical roadmaps across all product lines.

 


Requirements


  • HBO or WO degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (or a related field).

  • At least 5 years of experience in a comparable mechanical engineering role in the space or high-tech industry.

  • Proficiency in 3D CAD tools (such as Siemens Teamcenter/NX and/or SolidWorks) and knowledge of fine mechanical construction principles, design for stability of precision opto-mechanical instruments, and DFX practices.

  • Strong understanding of how mechanical design choices impact cost in volume manufacturing.

  • Capable of leading technical discussions with suppliers to support product development.

  • Entrepreneurial and creative, able to identify and translate technical challenges or new developments into practical mechanical solutions.

  • Enthusiastic, flexible, and proactive, demonstrating perseverance and initiative.

  • Pragmatic and capable of working independently while contributing to building the company.

  • Excellent command of English (written and spoken); Dutch is preferred but not required.

  • Ambitious, solution-oriented, and a collaborative team player.
