S[&]T VISION

We [are] algorithm genies and 3D data investigators.

We [see] the math in your pictures, and the pictures in your goals.

We [do] near real-time computer visualization in unstructured environments.

We [will] solve it; quickly, efficiently and insightfully.

Projects

Photogrammetric measurements of staircases

S&T Vision develops 3D measurement applications using photogrammetric techniques. Our software excels in user-ease, robustness and speed. Our staircase measurement software is used by 100+ users spread all over Europe and is available in 6 languages. It produces a very accurate 3D model using an un-calibrated consumer-rated camera. The output of our software is totally integrated in the workflow of our client.

Smart visualization of security videos

Nowadays there are more security cameras than people can handle. That’s why we develop new interfaces to help security operators create a better situational awareness. We do this using advanced 3D visualization techniques and high-performance tools to handle the numerous video streams. Our visualization platform also supports distributed computing with shared visualization. It can be used to visualize any sensor-data in its spatial context.

3D surface measurements using stereo-matching

In this project we combine pairs of stereo photos to create a very accurate height model of a sand-surface. Where this is normally done using laser-scanners, our method offers some advantages: there is no need for re-assembling of point clouds and the measurement is not influenced by any surrounding materials.

3D Video navigation

Security operators look at the world through cameras. Each time the operator switched to a different camera, his current viewing position and orientation are suddenly changed. This can lead to confusion. We build an interface that allows you to follow objects by flying from camera to camera inside a 3D model of the environment. This causes a fluent transition for both position and orientation and feeds the operator a view on the environment event before the video is shown.

Automated maintenance of tomato plants

3D measurements in unstructured environments are very hard. In this project we succeeded in doing 3D measurements on tomato-plants inside a greenhouse. The 3D measurements are then used to steer a robot-arm to do maintenance on the plants. Key technologies: building a synchronized multi-view measurement system, multi-view 3D reconstruction, robot navigation.

Extreme visualization

Ever wondered how it looks when you fly through a cloud of videos? Ever wondered if it’s possible to interface with videos with a “Minority Report”-like performance? We can make it happen! Our high-performance video tools combined with our high-level, easy maintainable interfaces offer smooth interaction with literally dozens of videos in real-time.
