Software Engineer Intern
Delft
Full time (40 hours per week)
Internship

About this job
We are currently looking for a Software Engineer Intern to join the team in Delft.
We welcome interns at every stage of their academic journey! Whether you're a bachelor's student looking to gain hands-on experience, a master's student seeking an internship, or you're ready to dive into your master’s thesis — we’ve got opportunities for you. We are flexible with the duration of the internship as long as it is longer than 3 months. Please specify which is your case on your motivation letter, and when you would be available to start this challenge and whether you could be flexible on it.
Are you ready to make an impact within S[&]T? We’re thrilled to help talented students reach their maximum potential. If you’d like to contribute to a safer life on Earth through your internship, we’ll be happy to guide you along the way.
At S[&]T we develop and host several platforms where scientific end-users within the Earth Observation domain can analyse and process large satellite datasets (e.g. https://data-portal.s5p-pal.com/). These platforms are often build on top of Cloud services using the Openstack APIs.
To monitor the performance of the deployed and hosted cloud environments, we gather operational data from a lot of different services and interfaces, such as from the Cloud Service Providers, our own Issue trackers, the data production statistics, the resulting information is monitored with tools like Prometheus and Grafana. From the gathered data we compute and report on Performance Indicators (PI) to our customer (e.g. ESA or Copernicus), with the purpose to show that our services comply to the agreed service level.
On several areas we know that we can improve our automated SLA reporting, for example on how we can retrieve and combine information from several different sources to intelligently generate the PI-reports in an automated way.
This (12-week) project would be ideally suited for a student who is interested in a project with Software Engineering, Infrastructure and Business Analytics challenges to help us improve our PI reporting.
