Job details

      Enterprise IT Architect

Main responsibilities

As an Enterprise IT Architect, you’ll be a key link between business operations, military missions, and cutting-edge information technology. You’ll work on multiple projects at once, developing new concepts and architectures with your colleagues and clients. You’ll translate ideas and needs into practical, secure, and future-ready solutions for Defence.

Where you’ll work

  • You’ll be part of our Computing Engineering department — a diverse group of more than fifty applied researchers, system architects, and IT consultants. Together, we demonstrate how advanced IT applications can drive innovation for government and business.
  • Our teams tackle challenges like:
    • Automating how we collect, store, and analyze massive data streams
    • Using predictive analytics and large-scale simulations
    • Designing human-friendly ways to interact with complex data and systems
  • You’ll join a supportive, social team in The Hague — ready to share knowledge and just as eager to learn from you.

Requirements

  • You hold a Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, Technical Business Administration, Business IT or similar.
  • You have at least 3 years of work experience in enterprise architecture — translating business and information needs into solid system designs.
  • You’re curious and ambitious — ready to grow and develop your expertise further.
  • Ideally, you know the Defence domain and its ICT systems (C4I). If not, you’re motivated to dive in and learn.
  • You’re familiar with architecture frameworks like TOGAF or NAF, and know how to translate these into clear, practical solutions.
  • You communicate fluently in Dutch and English

What you bring

  • You love guiding clients and asking the right questions to get to the heart of a challenge.
  • You’re able to look at a problem from different angles and keep the big picture in mind.
  • You enjoy visiting clients on-site and building strong, trusted relationships.
  • You’re not afraid to challenge assumptions, point out inconsistencies, or play devil’s advocate — always constructively.
  • You thrive in a collaborative team and like to share ideas and learn from others.
